At long last, the clocks have changed and the days are finally getting longer. I love this time of year and have just enjoyed dusting off my summer wardrobe that’s been hiding away over winter. Just as it is for our clothes, it’s a great opportunity to open those bathroom cabinets and have a good skincare clear out! I bet many of you are like me – skincare hoarders. My dressing table/drawers/bathroom/wardrobe are stocked full of skincare old & new, a tonne of samples and so many face masks I could mask up the whole of London and still have enough left over to mask up their dogs too (a kind reminder that we don’t stock any products that have been tested on animals!). So let’s have a clear out! Throw out those out of date products, check expiry dates and anything that’s been open for 2 years. Sort out the samples you want and divide the rest in to small bags for your friends – it’s just a nice thing to do! Now to assess what’s left and what you need to add to your routine, below is a few of my favourites for dewy Spring skin.
Brighten up your korean skincare routine
Suncream is a must during any season. I regret having not worn suncream when I was younger. I’ve been wearing suncream almost daily for the past three years and really recommend everyone to become daily sunscreen users too. People ask me what is the best anti-ageing product, the answer is always suncream. Sun damage is the biggest cause of ageing and the impact cannot be stressed enough. Remember, sun creams older than 6 months need replacing as their effectiveness diminishes so first things first, get a new korean sun cream. The Missha All round safe block essences are my favourites, the oil free one is below.
The much raved about new Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E mask is back in stock. I think this was our fastest selling new product so I’m glad that it’s back and it’s perfect for spring. Paired with the Klairs Vitamin C serum, this Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E mask is packed with vitamin E, C and Niacinamide and will brighten up your skin for the new season. For those looking for a product to help with acne scaring and pigmentation, the Vitamin E & C will work hard to repair and give you rapid results. Wear this custard textured crème as a mask or as a sleeping pack, a little goes a long way with this Korean product so only use the tiniest amount.
Our newest curation from Missha, the iconic Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist. This Korean miracle essence has been reformulated and now contains 90% fermented yeast concentrate. It’s made from Himalayan Purple Barley and is packed with antioxidants and super hydrating effects. This essence is a total game changer, perfect addition for your spring Korean skincare routine a blogger-favourite for reducing redness, reducing pore size and evening skin texture. The vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants in the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist absorb easily into the skin leaving it revitalised, moist and baby soft. Niacinamide increases the skin’s elasticity, and improves the skin’s tone and texture. Suitable for all skin types, use the Korean skincare method of patting in several layers to achieve maximum hydration for the day. This is the cult product to get that Korean dewy bouncy glowing skin.
We are fast approaching the season for sandals and flip-flops so let’s not forget to beautify our feet! No one wants to see dry cracked heels so for baby soft feet pop this amazing Korean skincare innovation on, the Missha Foot Doctor 30 Minute Peeling Mask, for half an hour while watching Netflix with a cuppa. The hydrolysed collagen, lemon and apple extract will remove all that dead skin, job done.
Another product to spring clean those pores is the Caolion Pore O2 Sparkling Blackhead Soap. Made with charcoal, cocoa and sparkling water to deep cleanse pores. Add this blackhead busting soap to your korean skincare routine, it contains Shea butter, coconut oil and hyaluronic acid for smooth, hydrated, blackhead free skin.
Make P:rem use the word Radiance in their name for this clay cleanser and it’s the perfect way to describe the results! My skin is brighter and more radiant immediately after using the make p:rem Radiance Cleansing Pack due to the apple extracts and vitamin C. I would say combination to oily skin types would benefit most from adding this cleanser to their Korean skincare routine, but it’s by no means drying. A lot of clay cleansers are great for absorbing oil and drawing out impurities then leave your skin tight and dry, but this cleanser is packed with Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide and Shea Butter to leave your skin feeling baby soft. I don’t personally use it daily, but it works really well for my skin 3 times a week to draw out those nasty impurities from my combination skin.
The Whamisa organic flowers hydrogel masks are up there in my top 3 favourite sheet masks and are great at helping me achieve dewy, glowing skin. They’re loaded with brightening serum and rid my skin of any dry patches, creating a perfect base for a flawless makeup. Most importantly the serum doesn’t overload my skin so my acne prone skin doesn’t break out. The flowers and fruits masks are my favourite, I add a hydrogel into my Korean skincare routine at least once a week. The effects last too, glowing skin for the next 48 hours, I love you Whamisa!
