Clean beauty is more than just a skincare trend – it’s a movement. It’s also something that I hope, becomes a permanent change towards a better, cleaner skincare industry. There’s a growing need to know what’s going in to our products and to trust that what we apply to our skin is free from ‘nasties’.
When I say ‘nasties’, what am I talking about here? Well it’s any potentially harmful or irritating ingredients, especially synthetic ones, such as silicones, parabens and sulphates. Instead we’re seeing more plant based and botanical ingredients with minerals and vitamins. That’s what clean beauty means for many.
For me though, clean beauty goes beyond what’s listed on the back of the bottle. I want to know that the brands I use are seeking a greener future. They use recycled materials for their packaging and their packaging can be recycled. I’m someone who spends a fortune on skincare. I’ve changed my attitude and always opt for glass bottles wherever possible. It’s also so easy to recycle your skincare packaging!
It’s important to note here that at Buttermilk Skincare, all our products are free from Parabens, silicones and are not tested on animals.
The Korean Beauty industry is always leading the charge in next-gen skincare. We’re seeing a huge rise in clean beauty products, that are organic and/or vegan. Koreans are demanding a cleaner skincare routine, using only the safest cleanest products on the market. So let’s take a look at which Korean skincare products make our clean beauty list.
Aromatica Rose Absolute First Serum
Formulated with 79% Organic Aloe Vera, this organic vegan serum is enriched with Bulgarian Rosa Damascena Oil and is incredible quality. Perfect for those wanting an anti-ageing serum which will brighten and hydrate skin.
Whamisa Deep Rich Toner
The famous vegan toner ideal for the seven skin method. You only need the tiniest amount and boy does it make a difference to your skin, the ultimate clean glow product.
May Coop Raw Moisturiser
The perfect non-sticky mosituriser made with nourishing 70% maple tree sap. Rice, grapefruit, watermelon and soybean extract nourish the skin, giving bright and clear results.
Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner
This vegan toner is made up of 91% milk vecht root extract. The anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties help skin to glow and look at its healthiest. I love the Pyunkang Yul range, it’s so clean, free of nasties and promotes achieving healthy beautiful skin. Don’t just take my word for it though, Vogue have listed Pyunkang Yul (as well as Klairs and Whamisa) in their clean beauty list too which you can read here.
Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil
My go-to vegan Korean oil cleanser which is so gentle but super effective at removing my make-up. It also contains Black Sesame Oil with antioxidant effects and Blackcurrant Seed Oil that is rich in vitamins and minerals. Klairs is a beautiful clean brand fabulous for sensitive skin.
May Coop Raw Sauce
My favourite essence when my skin looks dull, this hydrating Korean clean essence is made with 93% maple tree sap. Why maple tree sap? It has a high absorption rate because of the smaller size of its molecules, even smaller than water, which means your skin is moisturised quicker and deeper, and the hydration effects are tenfold.
