Welcome to our newest brand, Whamisa! Join us as we dive into their organic fermented skincare line.
Whamisa was at the top of my list of Korean brands I wanted to curate when I started Buttermilk Skincare here in the UK. I’m so excited and proud to be able to bring our customers this luxury Korean skincare line. The very first Whamisa product I tried was their Kelp Mask and after that, I was hooked and couldn’t wait to review more. Whamisa is on the higher end of our product offering, but there is a reason for that – these products produce some seriously good results.
Where is Whamisa from?Whamisa is from Korea and is one of the more premium K-Beauty lines that the country has to offer. They are very particular about who distributes their products, ensuring their high quality brand is upheld. When in Korea, you can find these organic products in extravagant organic supermarkets. Back here in Europe though, Whamisa is new to the market and here at Buttermilk Skincare, we are excited to offer our UK customers some of their exclusive products. Whamisa has taken the US by storm and I expect the brand will grow incredibly quickly here in Europe too. Let’s just hope stock keeps up with demand!
Why Whamisa?Whamisa has dedicated ten years of research into creating products with leading fermentation technology that uses natural preservatives and no water. Their organic skincare line is certified by BDIH (International Organic and Natural Cosmetics Corporation). They take pride (quite rightly) in not testing on animals and most products are vegan friendly. As these products contain natural preservatives, one thing to be aware of is that they won't sit on your shelf for years. But they are so fresh and produce effective benefits for your skin.
What is fermented skincare?Whilst celebrities are obsessed with fermented foods like kimchi and sauerkraut at the moment (owing to the fact that they have been proven to aid digestion), why is it we are now slapping it on our faces too? The Korean cosmetic industry has invested a lot of money into researching fermented skincare. From the country that is obsessed with kimchi (a fermented cabbage), they were the first to recognise the benefits of adding fermented ingredients to skincare products. Fermented food contains good bacteria which encourages a healthy gut. This bacteria is rich in B vitamins, probiotics and omega 3. Adding these fermented items to skincare products, helps break down other active ingredients, making it easier for the skin to absorb all these goodies.
