Product Review: Fight those January Blues with Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream

A little blue with a big impact

I’ve heard from many of that you that finding the right products for sensitive or dry skin can be difficult. What’s more, with the colder Winter weather settling in, it’s really important to find the right products for your skin type that keep it hydrated and thoroughly moisturised. So I couldn’t think of a more perfect product to review, than Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream. As the temperature drops and the air gets dryer, so many of us have been suffering from itchy, dry and patchy skin. Well I believe that we have curated the saviour! When I was first given a pot of this product to test by Klairs in Korea, while on a beauty sourcing trip, I was sceptical this cream would actually work. It’s fair to say that I thought it was blue marketing gimmick but boy, was I wrong. Now this K-Beauty saviour has earnt a permanent spot on my dressing table. Over the past 12 months or so, the K-Beauty skincare line, Klairs, has grown in popularity in the western markets. It was already well established in the US and this has spread to Europe where it has grown from strength to strength. Why? It’s normally so difficult to find products for sensitive skin that boast such strong effective results. Klairs bestselling product is their Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum (you can read more on this little gem in a previous product review of mine), and I cannot recommend this product, and others from the Klairs product line, highly enough. And it’s not just me. The Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is beginning to get the recognition it deserves from beauty bloggers and the press worldwide. Only last Sunday, Buttermilk Skincare was featured in Fabulous Magazine from The Sun (UK) as The K Hot Spot, which featured Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream as one of their Best Buys. What does the Midnight Blue Calming Cream do?

Klairs went the extra mile to create a product for those with sensitive skin that would sooth and hydrate the skin without irritation. The skins natural protective barrier when it’s dehydrated is weakened, particularly when the skin is very dry. This K-Beauty miracle gets to work quickly to rapidly restore this barrier and creates a thin protective layer on the skin. You can feel this product working, as it soothes and calms. Visually, you can see irritated, stressed skin calming down and reduces the appearance of redness. The ingredients also work to combat hyperpigmentation, acne scarring and improves collagen generation. For only £18, you get a lot for your money with the Midnight Blue Calming Cream. How to use it

It might be blue, but the cream melts into the skin easily without actually leaving your skin looking smurf-like. The little pot comes with a spatula to keep the product hygienic. If all your skin is irritated and dry then you can use this product all over your face. If you have certain patches or combination skin, then you can apply the cream on those targeted areas. A little goes a long way, so you only need to use a small amount, smooth onto the skin and gently tap for full absorption. Once you’re done, progress onto the last step in your Korean skincare routine. For very dry skin, you can also layer this calming cream on top of your moisturiser like a sleeping pack. If you have oily skin, you can use this cream instead of a moisturiser. Or if you have specific irritated patches on your skin, apply your moisturiser as normal then use the Midnight Blue Calming Cream on the targeted areas. klairsmidnight bluecalming cream width

What’s in Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream?

Guaiazulene is the key ingredient in Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream, of which there is 0.03% concentrate. This is the ingredient that also gives the cream its blue colouring. Derived from camomile oil, it has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and soothing properties. The Centella Asiatica Extract in this cream has been used to treat ecemza dating back to the 17th century in Asian medicine. Centella Asiatica is rich in fatty acids, amino acids and stimulates collagen which helps the skin to regenerate and renew making it perfect for those with hyperpigmentation or acne scarring. The Midnight Blue Calming Cream also contains Lemon, Orange Peel Oil and Brocolli Extract which have high levels of Vitamin C to help combat hyperpigmentation and has anti-ageing benefits.
