perfect pores ✨

Pores, we all have them! Despite their often negative reputation, skin pores serve a vital role in allowing sweat and oil to escape through your skin, enabling you to cool down in warmer temperatures, and also to eliminate toxins from the body.

So why do they get such a bad name? Well, a person’s pores may be more or less noticeable depending on their skin type. For example, someone suffering from acne may have more visible or enlarged pores. This is because, when excess oil collects in the pore and combines with dirt or makeup, the pore can become blocked and a pimple may develop, causing the pore to stretch.

While enlarged pores are not a health concern, they are often an aesthetic consideration and many people look for remedies to attempt to reduce their size. Whilst this isn’t always possible, there are certainly many ways in which you can minimise their appearance.

Apply a mask

Using a mask 1-2 times a week can help to remove excess oil from the pores. Our Egg White Pore Mask by Skinfood is packed with protein (rich in amino acids) which cleanse deep into the pores and remove those clogging oils to leave your skin looking clearer and healthier.

It’s always recommended that you apply a mask on a different day to when you exfoliate, so as not to cause irritation from over-treating the skin. This in turn may lead to blemishes and enlarged pores.

Exfoliate at least once a week

On the subject of exfoliation, this is an important step in helping to prevent enlarged pores occurring. Without stripping your skin, a good exfoliator helps to remove pore-clogging flakes and excess sebum. However, bear in mind that exfoliation is generally thought of as a preventative measure rather than a treatment, so avoid this step in your skincare routine if you are experiencing an acne breakout.

Our patented Bubble Peeling Pad from Wish Formula contains natural AHA ingredients, 200mg of pure Vitamin C and fermented botanical extracts to effectively remove skin impurities. And what’s more? It’s so much fun to use!

Wear sunscreen

Sunscreen is a must-have for everyone, especially on the face (and even on cloudier days!) in order to help prevent your skin against sun damage and harmful UV rays. Sufferers of oily skin may initially resist wearing sunscreen on their face for fear of blocking their pores further, but evidence suggests that sun damage can dry out your skin to the extent that your pores become enlarged.

Our All Around Safe Block Essence Sun Milk by Missha is perfect for everyday use; it’s extremely lightweight and moisturising without being greasy, and prevents sunburn and premature ageing with SPF50/PA+++ sunblock. Suitable for all skin types, so there’s no excuse to not protect your skin as well as preventing breakouts.
